Outlet Powered is an independent guide to portable home backup power for US households, covering portable power stations, solar generators and plug-in solar.
I'm Hamza Ahmad Aslam, the founder and editor of Outlet Powered. I'm a developer based in Pakistan, and I started this site in 2026. I use each maker's US product page and manual for product specifications, and I don't physically test products. When I use a published test from another outlet, I name the outlet and link to the test.
Why I started Outlet Powered
A power outage can leave a household trying to keep essential equipment running without knowing how much backup power it needs. Choosing a power station means understanding battery capacity, output limits, charging options and expected runtime, and product specifications aren't always easy to compare, especially when manufacturers describe similar features in different ways.
I created Outlet Powered to make that information easier to find and understand. The site focuses on practical questions: powering household appliances during outages, comparing battery systems and deciding how much backup power you need.
How the information is checked
Every product specification comes from the manufacturer's US product page, official manual or official support pages, and I record the source link and the date it was checked. If the manufacturer doesn't state a specification, I label it "Not stated" rather than guess. When I reference published testing by another outlet, I name and link to that source; Outlet Powered doesn't claim those tests as its own.
Runtime estimates are calculations, not measured results, and the range of assumptions behind them is explained alongside the figures. I use ChatGPT to help draft the guides. An AI research assistant, Claude, pulls each figure from the maker's manual or US product page and records the source link and the date it checked it. I review each page before it goes live, and each model page says whether I've finished a second check of its figures against the printed manual. None of those second checks is finished yet.
How Outlet Powered earns money
Outlet Powered plans to earn commissions through brand and retailer affiliate programs. The site will apply to those programs once enough pages are live, so for now links go directly to stores without earning a commission. Commissions don't influence product picks or specifications.
