Our take on the Power 500
- Who it suits
- Consider the DJI Power 500 if you want a small 120 V LFP power station with 512 Wh of capacity, 2 AC outlets and a weight of 16.1 lb.
- Who should skip it
- Skip it if you need to run a 1,500 W space heater, want reliable starting power for a 1/2 HP sump pump, or want an expansion battery option.
- Closest alternative
- Choose the DJI Power 1000 V2 if you want more battery capacity while keeping 120 V output.
Good for
- Portable 120 V power for smaller loads, with a station weight of 16.1 lb.
- A Wi-Fi router and cable modem, which the site calculator estimates can run for 25 h to 77 h.
- Solar charging up to 300 W with a separately sold DJI solar adapter.
- Devices that can tolerate the stated 20 ms UPS switching time.
Not for
- A 1,500 W space heater, which exceeds the station's continuous AC rating.
- A 1/2 HP sump pump without checking its starting demand, since start-up may exceed what the station can supply.
- Buyers who want an expansion battery option.
Before you buy
- DJI lists 1,000 W continuous AC output only when charge is above 20%. The manual lists 800 W rated output. DJI does not state a surge rating.
- The stated 540 W wall charging rate applies only at 60% or more charge and 20 to 35 C. DJI lists a full-charge time of 70 min.
- Solar charging up to 300 W needs a DJI solar adapter sold separately.
- The manual states 3,000 cycles to 80% capacity, while DJI's spec page states over 70% after 4,000 cycles.
- DJI does not state an expansion battery option.
- The warranty is 5 years: 3 years plus 2 more after registering with DJI.

What the Power 500 can run
Estimated runtime on a full charge with one appliance plugged in. We assume 80% to 90% of the rated 512 Wh reaches the appliance. The start-up check compares each appliance's published start-up figure (volts times starting amps, in VA) with the stated surge rating. At small loads the station's own idle draw takes a large share, so actual runtime can fall well below the range.

Medical devices. A rating check is not medical advice; here is what device makers and the FDA say.
- CPAP without humidifier (ResMed AirSense 10/11 class): FDA: ask your device maker or supplier whether the device can run on batteries or a generator, and check settings after power returns. If the device is life-sustaining, seek emergency help. ResMed battery guide: it strongly recommends a ResMed DC-to-DC converter over a DC-to-AC inverter when running from a battery.
- CPAP with heated humidifier (ResMed AirSense 11 / 10): FDA: ask your device maker or supplier whether the device can run on batteries or a generator, and check settings after power returns. ResMed battery guide: it strongly recommends a ResMed DC-to-DC converter over a DC-to-AC inverter when running from a battery.
- Travel CPAP (ResMed AirMini): FDA: confirm with the maker or supplier that battery or generator power is suitable for your device.
- Home oxygen concentrator (5 LPM): FDA: ask the maker or supplier whether it can run on batteries or a generator, and use battery-powered lights rather than gas lights or torches when oxygen is in use. Seek emergency help if the device is life-sustaining.
- Nebulizer (compressor type), Power wheelchair or scooter charger (24 V, 8 A): FDA: ask your device maker or supplier whether the device can run on batteries or a generator, and check settings after power returns. If the device is life-sustaining, seek emergency help.
Charging: wall, solar and car
- Wall charging: up to 540 W; fastest stated full charge 70 min.
- Solar: up to 300 W. Keep panels inside that voltage range, including their open-circuit voltage on a cold morning.
- Car: no car-charging wattage stated.

Questions readers ask
How long can the DJI Power 500 run a refrigerator?
Our calculation for a refrigerator averaging 60 W is 6.8 to 7.7 hours.
Can the DJI Power 500 run a CPAP overnight?
Our calculation for a CPAP with a heated humidifier is 0.9 to 1.0 nights. Each night is 8 hours at 56.1 W. Confirm with the device maker and your doctor before relying on a power station.
Can the DJI Power 500 run a sump pump or space heater?
The site calculator shows that a 1/2 HP sump pump may need more starting power than the Power 500 can supply, and a 1,500 W space heater exceeds its continuous AC rating. Check the requirements before relying on either.
How long can it power a Wi-Fi router and cable modem?
The site calculator estimates 25 h to 77 h for a Wi-Fi router and cable modem. Actual runtime depends on the equipment's power demand. Use the runtime calculator to estimate a specific load.
What are the DJI Power 500 wall charging limits?
DJI states a 70 min full-charge time. Its listed 540 W wall charging rate applies only at 60% or more charge and 20 to 35 C.
